Russian steel market faces recession due to war

(Daiphuc corp) - Russian domestic steel prices are falling very fast. The main reason is that the war in Ukraine has reduced domestic demand. In addition, Western sanctions also halted Russian steel exports, increasing domestic supply and causing steel prices to fall.

According to Severstal, a major Russian steel mill, they exported 3 million tons of steel to Europe in 2021, accounting for 57% of their total exports. However, European sales are now down a lot.

Severstal is looking for more sales from Asian market or Turkish market. However, it is difficult to find a replacement in a short time.
